Slooowww Dooowwwnn.

Thursday, August 29th, 2002

I’ve been a bit busy this week with other stuff to do any programming. I know I should really get this stuff finished but other things came up. I’m getting ready to start work next week. Also I started playing Moonbase Commander and I got caught up in it. If you know me then you know I usually can’t keep focused on one game for more than 3 mins but Moonbase Commander is really kool. Anyway stay tuned.

Another Day… Another Beta

Thursday, August 22nd, 2002

Well Beta 4 of the Photo Album is up. It’s over 400 lines now. Here is a list of the changes:

  • New Thumbnail Resize Features (Resize by ratio, by width, or by height)
  • Better CSS (pure eye candy)
  • Removed sub-album support (ie. you can no longer have nested directories viewable)
  • Made the album list available on every page
  • Re-arranged items on page for better navigation

Check it out here.

Fixed?

Wednesday, August 21st, 2002

Well it seems that the speed problems are fixed and that it was the server lagging after all. I figured it had to be as the thumbnails were downloading slowly as well. Now I can get back on track with the programming.

Want To Be Barcoded?

Wednesday, August 21st, 2002

I just found this over at Teoti and I thought it was pretty cool.

As you can see, I’m a barcode now. If you want to play around with it you should go here.

Photo Album Beta 3

Wednesday, August 21st, 2002

Well I made some more changes, nearly all of which are purely cosmetic. There are some issues right now, everything on my site is very slow. I think that the majority of this problem is due to the speed of my webhost. I know my code has to be cleaned up and I will get around to that.

You can find the changes here.

PhotoAlbum Beta 2 Now Active

Tuesday, August 20th, 2002

I just spent a few hours coding and I’ve made some significant changes to the PhotoAlbum. The directories are now placed into a dropdownlist and there is paging for the pictures so it currently show 9 thumbnails per page.
I should have a good build by Friday and I am currently rethinking letting my source go since it is now over 300 lines. I will probably make a custom control as well for the people who want simplicity and integration.

See Beta 2 here.

In The Lap Of Luxury (Trip To Osaka Part 2)

Monday, August 19th, 2002

I’m on the plane now. The view of Osaka at dusk is very beautiful. I thoughtle was a very clean city and it felt like there was little pollution too. The streets seemed very organized and the architecture I felt was better thar in Korea, it was all very efficient without losing any appeal. I really would like to spent more time here.
Ah I asked for white wine and I got red. I am Surrounded by idiots. Haha, just kidding, red is fine. MMM, supper was good. At least they kept that red wine coming.
One of the things that sticks Out the most for this trip is the woman at the department store where I bougnt my headphones. She had a voice like a robot pig and she acted like a robot too. She repeatedly said, “Thank you” to every customer except it was in a high pitched Japanese accent. Oh, aid then there were the Brazillians selling fake Rolex watches an Louis Vuitton wallets, I’m sure they were talking bad about me to my face in Portugese or something.
I guess thats about it for now, f will put the pics up on Tuesday or maybe I will wait for the new web host to be activated. Back to my Luniz MP3s and my new earbuds.

Me Likey Japan (Trip To Osaka Part 1)

Monday, August 19th, 2002

I’m writing this in the business class lounge of Kansai airport in Osaka. I usually don’t use my PDA very much but I have an hour to kill so what the hell. I’ve already had a glass of Remy Martin, four pleces of cheese, two cars of juice, and 3 bags of mixed nuts while I was looking at the pictures I’ve taken over the past three days. Now I have to make room for that slightly less crappy business class food. On yeah, I scammed a Guiness for my bag too.
Getting to the Korean consulate proved quite easy today although I did have two idiot Americans Sitting behind me on the Rapido train. After listening to the one bitch about his crappy jobs in Korea I realized why he was on his 3rd job in only a few months. He had a southern accent, he liked hanging out in Itaewon, and he likes the whores in Thailand and the Phillipines. Then after after I got off the train and started to walk to the consulate I wasn’t sure where to go so l saw them and decided to go in the same direction. After walking about 3 minutes and seeing that we were in the same shopping area I decided to go a different way. Shortly after leaving their path I came across a Subway station that had a neighbourhood map and within 5 minutes I had found the consulcte no thanks to the stupid Americans.
Haha, I just snagged some more nits, kitkats, and a Gingerale since I can’t get that in Korea.
Anyway, back to Japan. I had heard that Japanese people wer not as good looking as Koreans, this somewhat true but Japanese people have so much more style than Koreans. This fact makes up for the lack of beauty in some Japanese people.
I didn’t do much shopping. I guess there is a huge Japanese holiday now and maybe thct would explain the swarms of people, or maybe its just like that everyday. However, I did get to look around a lot in one area called “Shinsaesibashi” or something like that. I bougnt a Hello Kitty hand phone accessory for Angela and I got some ‘nude” Sony earbuds, for myself. They sound pretty damn nice with my MP3 player. Not to mention they block out a hell of a lot of background noise. Also, I had some really nice “White Peach” Fanta, I wanted to get some more but I didn’t find any before I left. Anyway my plane is boarding in a couple minutes so I should steal some more food and bail. Later.

New HD & Rounded IDE Cable

Monday, August 19th, 2002

I just went to TechnoMart and got a new Western Digital 80GB 7200RPM IDE drive and a nice rounded IDE cable for 162000 won.
If you wanna check the review on the drive you can find it at Storage Review, although I’m not sure why you would care so much about my HD.

Coke & Fools

Sunday, August 18th, 2002

This is pretty damned funny especially considering I used to live in Calgary. Read about how much one fool paid for a suitcase of coke. You can find it at CBC News.
