I coded for 5+ hours this weekend and made significant changes to the engine of the PictureGallery. Here is a list of the changes:

• Rewrote resize engine to work with image aspect ratio to determine a suitable size using a maximum length and width. Resize options are now: “MaxSize” & “Ratio”.
• Updated thumbnail system to make subdirectories under the original gallery directory. NOTE: Even though this works fine and I thought it was a good idea at first, the old system or a different system is actually simpler for working with the thumbnails. I plan to update this section very soon, thus this version will not be used or released!
• Added some statistics gathering code to gallery update section. I plan to do more, ie: image aspect ratios, averages for size, resolution, and size.
• A few minor changes.

I will continue to work on the script in the near future. As I see things now, I must only get the paging and the statistics finshed before version 1.0 is complete. Version 2.0 will contain more database functions such as titles, descriptions, users, etc.

I have worked on the Picture Gallery script and made some improvements so I uploaded Beta 8.
What’s New:

• Removed thumbnail directory from gallery listings.
• Re-ordered gallery listing to sort by date of last update.
• Fixed hit counter to add hit before gallery or picture loads.
• Added “TopList” feature to get most popular pictures. Test it here.

We got the professional wedding photos last week but I have been pretty busy since getting back so I haven’t had time to scan them until now. All the pictures are bigger than my scanner so they have been cropped and the group pictures have been merged. If you want to take a look at them, you can see them here:

I have begun to scan the pictures we took during our trip, I’m really wishing now that we had taken a digital camera because this a huge pain in the ass! I have finished the pictures up to the 7th of January so far. I expect the scanning to take the remainder of the week before I finish. During this time I also have to work on the PictureGallery script and get that up to par before all this stuff can go live.

Well we finally made it back to Seoul. I tried to blog from the airport in Hong Kong but the free Internet booth wouldn’t let me open a pop-up so I couldn’t.

Anyway, we are VERY happy to be back in civilization where the streets aren’t filled with dirty animals and garbage. BLAH! I’m trying not to think of India in a really negative way but the negative aspects of the country far outweigh the positive ones in my current view.

We have been sick for the past 3 or 4 days now. That made the flights back really crappy but we survived. Also it felt really good to eat a nice beef & bacon cheese burger from BK today. I think one month without beef and pork is too long for me although I realized that it is easier for me to be a vegitarian than I thought.

I got lots of stuff to do so I’m gonna bail. I guess I’ll drop off the 16+ rolls of film we shot tomorrow, expect the scanning to take a LONG time.
