Turning Point

Sunday, August 31st, 2003

I have just realized that I need to leave Korea and get a real job ASAP. Not that I hate Korea or anything, generally Korea has been quite good to me. However, I have been here for over 2 years and I no longer want to spend my time in a position that has no future for me. I will NOT be an English teacher in the future and I will NOT live my entire life in country where I do not feel comfortable.

This is not my home…

Bam!

Well I have to say that I am loving VS.Net 2003. It makes my life so simple. I have created a deployment project the gets compiled every time I do a build. This means all the lastest files necessary for end-users are dumped into directory with a setup file making it very simple to update the server with the latest code or deploy it to another server. Also, the VatoBlogger app which is the client side app for the VatoBlog webservice is going better than I could have expected. Not only is it turning out to be a very cool little app, it is also teaching me a lot about windows forms C# that I had never tried before. I wish I could just sit around every day playing around with code!

Damn I’m a geek!!!

We’ll I had a good trip to Canada with Sang Hee. It was only 3 weeks and we got off to a bad start though due to Air Canada’s stupidity. It was good to be back home, now the only problem is that I want to move back.

I will tell you more about that later because I want to test out the new code I’ve been working on for the past 24 hours. I have taken a tutorial from www.codeproject.com on an XML Blogging system, modified it, converted it to C#, and plan to expand upon it. The new project is called “VatoBlog”. I think it is a much more logical name given the name of the site.
More to come later… I promise!
