Nowhere

Sunday, September 21st, 2003

I got lots of work done today. I had planned to upload Beta 2 to the server today but I was on a roll with programming so I just left it the way it is, sometime this week I will upload a new version when I get the EditUser script completed. Just believe me that its working nice in the mean time.

In other news, I started going to an alergy specialist on Saturday and I’m already feeling a bit better. I have to go twice a week and its going to cost a lot of money but maybe I’ll actually be able to breathe through my nose after I finish. The treatment consists of liquid medicine, acupuncture/injections, nose lasers, and nose pills to clear my sinus.
It’s been a long day of coding, time to play a round of Worms3D demo and hit the sack.

Nappy Roots iz nice…

Anyway, I’m c0ding and drinkin’, and na it’s not dat purple sizzurp.

Okay that’s enough slizzang for your izzass!

Seriously though, I was looking into that CPU burst issue I was mentioning earlier. If my investigation is correct then it is not my coding, instead it is my crappy windows installation. I’m having a lot of problems lately and my IE causes the CPU to burst to 100% at times, especially when loading text boxes and buttons, I can’t wait for that East Asian produced OS, I’m sure it will be better than this Windows BS.

Sick & tired of bein’ sick & tired…

I worked on VatoBlog for a little tonight and I reorganized the Comments storage, they were posted in several different files and then I realized that was completly retarded so I have changed it so it uses only one XML file. During my testing I had the task manager open and I saw my CPU usage jump to 100% when I was logged in and opened the ViewMessage.aspx page. I’m not sure why this is yet, but I have some ideas. This WILL be fixed soon.
I have also started making a todo list to improve the app before I release V1.0 Final. Here is what the list includes at the moment:

  • Fix/disallow HTML tags in comment form on ViewMessage.aspx page.
  • Add a message hit counter.
  • Add a comment counter for each message.
  • Lots of functionality improvements
  • And fix the error mentioned above.

VatoBlog 1.0 Beta 1? Almost…

Monday, September 15th, 2003

I did a little more work on VatoBlog tonight even though I wasn’t feeling very good. I should really start working on documentation also. I haven’t commented my code properly so I need to do that also but if all goes well I think I will probably post Beta 1 on the site within a week. I think it looks sweet and it behaves very nicely also but I need to add a code execution timer to make sure everything is going smoothly.

Still Workin’

What up? What up?

Well I’m still working on VatoBlog. I have no idea when I will release a public version but the functionality will be back to normal soon with improved speed if my expectations are correct.

The new system is 3-tier. There is a web service (server & database), a web client (html interface), and a standalone client (blog posting app). At the moment I am trying to get it so that none of the code is overlapping and the transactions between each of the layers is as simple as possible. As a bonus of using XML as the data storage device I think there will be few problems with multilingual input or dangerous character sequences although I will have to build in some HTML validators to limit HTML input.
One another related note, progress was delayed the last few days because I had to spend more time with Sang Hee’s family than I had previously expected. There were some benefits however, during the last few days I was able to:

  1. See the North Korean coast.
  2. Visit Lotte World for a brief and expensive trip.
  3. Go to the 63 Building and check out an Imax movie.
  4. Play Blue Marble which is like a Korean version of Monopoly

Well my arm is tingling for using the PC too much so I guess I will go lay down and watch a movie while Sang Hee is working on her paper.

Hey Ya

What up?
Well I’m on holidays again! It’s “Chuseok” which is Korean Thanksgiving so I have a 5-day weekend. Hopefully I will have time to get lots of programming done, I’ve already implemented the multiuser feature but now I have to add the message boards again.
Anyway, back to the real topic at hand. I’ve been an Outkast fan since before they released their first album, back at that time I special ordered the tape because I didn’t think it was going to be popular. I’m glad I was wrong! Their first double, solo CD comes out soon and one of the first singles is “Hey Ya” by Andre 3000 and its getting heavy rotation on my system. I just found the video a few minutes ago and its really original so you gotta check it out! Click here to check it out on Blastro.
Peace!

Blah… Work

Monday, September 1st, 2003

Going back to work always sucks. Even though I’m only teaching five classes and I finish at 1pm it still sucks. It’s only 8:00pm but I have been awake since before 5:00am and I’m tired. I’m going to get my clothes ready for tomorrow and then hit the sack.

Best line I heard today:
“When you see baby mamas c-walkin in the street, that’s about as ghetto as it gets!”
- Some dood in the “C-Walk-It’s A Way Of Life” documentary
