Today CCNA, Tomorrow Yo Momma

Friday, February 27th, 2004

Well I did it! I passed the CCNA test which now makes me a Certified Cisco Network Associate. I’m pretty damn happy about it because I totally expected to have to write the test twice, but I did it on my first try. The simulations were difficult but only because I didn’t know what I was doing 100%, only 90%. I’m so glad that they allowed the ? command, that really saved my life because I forgot how to apply an access list to an interface.

Anyway, I plan to get some work done on the website this weekend since I have 3 days. I also need to start thinking about my next certification. I was thinking about CISSP the other day, but I think I might go back to my orignal plan and become an Oracle Certified Professional or do some kind of MS + SQL Server cert.

I need some sleep…

Tic Toc

Wednesday, February 25th, 2004

Well, I have just over 24 hours before my CCNA test. I studied yesterday for 5 hours again. I know my stuff pretty well now but I’m still not too great with ISDN and DDR stuff. I also have to refresh myself on OSPF. I really hope that the sims will go easy on me. I will be satisfied if I get a 851 even though I would like to get 900+. I am very nervous though so I hope I don’t freeze up and bomb it.

Is it today Grey (Gray) Tuesday? It’s Wednesday here but I don’t know what day it is where my server is. Check out everything about Grey Tuesday and The Grey Album at http://www.greytuesday.org/.

I’ll update the site Friday night or Saturday morning and hopefully I’m not crying…

My Editorial

I wrote a letter of complaint to a local paper here in Seoul and they published it. If you want to take a look, you can see it at http://joongangdaily.joins.com/200402/23/200402232232000609900090109013.html

Countdown

Saturday, February 21st, 2004

I’ve been busy lately which is why I have not updated this site or VatoBlog. Hopefully I will have more time next month to work on things.

My CCNA test is only five days away now. I am getting pretty nervous about it. I have subnetting down to an art and that is the least of my concerns however I’m a few problems with WANs and the commands that go with them. So I am really hoping that the simulations will go easy on me. I think that will be my biggest problem. I’m usually scoring about 80% on the practice tests which is not bad but considering that I think the real test will be harder and include simulations, I might have a little more difficulty. I plan to study intensively for the next 5 days by going over lots sample questions.

I screwed up Windows 2K on my PC the other day. Note to self: backup the registry before you start deleting keys! So I put Windows XP on and I found the problem that was causing the freezes. ZoneAlarm has a bug that causes freezes and also the power settings on some PCs have issues so I think everything is running smoothly. (Knock on wood)

Anyway, I think I should have breakfast before I start studying for today. It’s going to be a long week…

VatoBlog 2.0 Beta 2

Saturday, February 7th, 2004

Okay, not really deserving of a new version number but anyway… Here are the changes/fixes in 2.0 Beta 2:

  • Fixed: VatoUser.xml creation. Email address was going into the <name> tag and visa-versa.

  • Fixed: Email validation using a better regular expression. It will now accept more varieties of domains.

  • Changed: Created new control “VatoBlog.ascx” which is responsible for displaying the blog content instead of having all the code in Default.aspx. The control also contains the page navigation control which should allow the control to be placed in any page while remaining functional.

  • Known Error: The time execution is false, especially on Default.aspx, due to not the fact that it doesn’t calculate that control execution time also. I plan to work on this.

I think that’s about it. You can download the new release at the VatoBlog Workspace.

Enjoy!

VatoBlog 2.0 Beta 1

Sunday, February 1st, 2004

Here it is, VatoBlog 2.0 Beta 1!

It’s not too special at the moment, just a small improvement (maybe) from 1.0. Actually, the client side is improved but I still have a bunch of work to do on the admin side.

I have setup a workspace a GotDotNet so you can grab the first release and read a little more here.

More to come later…
