Kool News

Tuesday, June 29th, 2004

Microsoft has just released VS 2005 Beta 1! So I going to begin playing with it and see how it deals with the latest VatoBlog Beta. I hope that I can make things XHTML compliant. If I like how thing go, VatoBlog may become an ASP.NET 2.0 app sooner than expected.

In other cool news, a theme said to be from the new Windows XP Media Center has been leaked and it looks pretty nice. I thought it might show it off so here is a link to my desktop at the moment.

Enjoy!

I Miss

Thursday, June 24th, 2004

I’m embarrassed to say this. I was talking to a buddy the other night and I told him that I don’t feel at home here. Something is missing in my life. Of course the main thing is my wife, but besides that something is missing. I don’t feel alive here. I really miss Korea. I knew I was going to miss Korea but this is different from what I expected. I do want to come back, but I feel like I am giving up reality if I go back to Korea. I feel like I am giving up my education if I go back. But, at the same time, I feel like I am making a choice to live life. Korea changed me, for better or for worse, I don’t know but I am a different person now and I miss that person that I became in Korea. I don’t know what to do. I feel very happy that I have options in my life but at the same time I feel very sad that I have to give something up. When I go back to Korea, I know I will eventually, my family is going to be very sad and disapointed. I really miss Korea and it makes me sad to think about it. All I can say is that I wasn’t meant to stay still. Travelling is important to me and I feel really locked in here. I’m young and I need to be free…

Now I’m Pissed!

Tuesday, June 15th, 2004

Okay, but everything aside in my personal and professional life…

I just finished watching the 4th movie in my Planet of the Apes Special Edition Box Set. I bought it in Korea shortly before I left because it was on sale and I had gift certificates so I only paid about $25CAD for it. When I put the disc away, I looked at the 5th disc which looked new to me and then I looked at the 6th disc which should have been, “Behind The Planet Of The Apes” which has all the behind the scenes and documentary stuff. The disc look familiar, very familiar. In fact it was the same disc I just put away. So now I have 2 copies of a region 3 “Conquest For The Planet Of The Apes” and no copy of “Behind The Planet Of The Apes” and I am pissed off. That is the 2nd time that store ripped me off. The first time I bought the Indiana Jones Trilogy on DVD before it was officially released at a very cheap price and I found that the discs were horrible bootlegs which didn’t even play right and they refused to give me my money back. It’s times like that make me feel justified for downloading…

Why?… Lyrics

Saturday, June 12th, 2004

[Jadakiss]
Aha
It’s dat real
Yo, why is Jadakiss as hard as it gets
Why is the industry designed to keep the artist in dept
And why them dudes ain’t ridin’ if there part of your set
And why they never get it poppin’ but they party to death
Yea, and why they gon give you life for a murder
Turn around only give you eight months for a burner, it’s goin down
Why they sellin’ niggaz CD’s for under a dime
If it’s all love daddy why you come wit your nine
Why my niggaz ain’t get that cake
Why is a brother up North better than Jordan
That ain’t get that break
Why you ain’t stackin’ instead of tryin’ to be fly
Why is rattin’ at an all time high
Why are you even alive
Why they kill Tupac n’ Chris
Why at the bar you ain’t take straight shots instead of poppin Crist’
Why them bullets have to hit that door
Why did Kobe have to hit that raw
Why he kiss that whore
Why

[Chorus: Anthony Hamilton]
All that I been givin’
Is this thing that I’ve been living
They got me in the system
Why they gotta do me like that
Try’d to make it my way
But got sent up on the highway
Why, oh why
Why they do me like that

[Jadakiss]
Why would niggaz push pounds and powder
Why did bush knock down the towers
Why you around them cowards
Why Aaliyah have to take that flight
Why my nigga D ain’t pull out his Ferrari
Why he take that bike
Why they gotta open your package and read your mail
Why they stop lettin’ niggaz get degreez in jail
Why you gotta do eighty-five percent of your time
And why do niggaz lie in eighty-five percent of they rhymes
Why a nigga always want what he can’t have
Why I can’t come through in the pecan Jag
Why did crack have to hit so hard
Even though it’s almost over
Why niggaz can’t get no jobs
Why they come up wit the witness protection
Why they let the terminator win the election
Come on, pay attention
Why sell in the stores what you can sell in the streets
Why I say the hottest shit but we sellin’ the least

[Chorus]

[Jadakiss]
Uh, yea, yo
Why Halle have to let a white man pop her to get a Oscar
Why Denzel have to be crooked before he took it
Why they didn’t make the CL6 wit a clutch
And if you don’t smoke why the hell you reachin’ for my dutch
Why rap, cause I need air time
Why be on the curb wit a “while I” I need a bare sign
Why all the young niggaz is dyin’
Cause they moms at work, they pops is gone, they livin’ wit iron
Why they ain’t give us a cure for aids
Why my diesel have fiends in the spot on the floor for days
Why you screamin’ like it’s slug, it’s only the hawk
Why my buzz in L.A. ain’t like it is in New York
Why you forcin’ you to be hard
Why ain’t you a thug by choice
Why the whole world love my voice
Why try to tell ‘em that it’s the flow son
And you know why they made the new twenties
Cause I got all my old ones
That’s why

[Chorus]

That’s real!!!

Why? Because Jadakiss Schools You!

Saturday, June 12th, 2004

I’m glad to see that hip-hop is maturing. Jada’s new single is “Why?” It’s tight as hell but unfortunately D-12’s new video will probably be number #1 by next week while Jada sits at #20 or outside the charts. The whole new Jadakiss albums is NICE! I’ve never been a big Lox/Jada/Styles/D-Block fan but this is album is dope. Problem is the FUCKING censors have taken most of the message out of the “Why?” video. The lyrics are supposed to be “Why did Bush knock down the towers?” I don’t understand why and how the censors can bleep out “Bush”! It’s ridiculous! Study your lessons or the lessons will study you. If you are American, please vote Non-Republican & Non-Bush this fall unless you want the world to end faster than it is already going to.

Peace!

HeHeHe Baek Won

Saturday, June 12th, 2004

I just went to the beer store and the bill came to 22.50. I took a bunch of change from my house today so I used 1.50 in quarters. At least I thought they were quarters. I got home and emptied my pockets and I had 3-100 Won coins and I think I gave a couple to the woman at the counter when I paid for the beer.

Yay foreign money… Now its time to drink…

Errrrg! I Hate IE

Friday, June 11th, 2004

I’ve been working hard on VatoBlog 2.0 Beta 4 for the last couple days. Problem is that I am using FireFox as my main browser nowadays, but Visual Studio NEEDS to use IE. And nothing renders the way it should in IE, everything looks sweet in FireFox but in IE it looks like crap. I’ve been trying to do curved CSS boxes and using PNGs but  IE doesn’t support CSS properly and it has messed up support of  PNG, specifically alpha transparency. I’ve wasted about 8 hours over the last 3 days trying to do this and now I am moving on. I am leaving the boxes the way they are because I am giving up to IE…

Once again, MS takes a good thing and ruins it.

VatoBlog 2.0 Beta 3

Saturday, June 5th, 2004

Finally….

Here it is. There is not much new, mostly some little bugfixes and the inclusion of FreeTextBox 2.0.5.

I have disabled cookieless sessions like I said I was going to do. You can enable them pretty easily if you would like but I haven’t tested this build with them turned on. I’m pretty sure the FreeTextBox will fail to load properly in non-IE browsers if you turn them back on.

I have also changed the CSS linking a little. I am now using FireFox for most of my browsing and it has a cool feature where you can switch CSS on the fly so I may try to do that in the future. For the moment, you can only switch between the default style and the plain style.

There will be more to come… Enjoy!

Big Changes

Thursday, June 3rd, 2004

Well, I took the gallery down.My wife complained about some pictures and I was planning to move the gallery to my PC anyway so I just deleted the dir from the server. I don’t know when I will get it back up, hopefully it will be sooner then later, but I am kind of pissed off about nGallery and how the program assigns random filenames to my images, making it impossible to keep a good DB. Not sure what I will do, might start working on my old gallery again.

Also I tried doing some coding tonight to include the new FreeTextBox 2.0.5 with table support. It works fine in IE but it is still not working in FireFox in the VatoBlog 2.0 code and I think it is because I am using cookieless sessions. I really like the idea of cookieless sessions but it makes more problems than it is really worth:

  1. It makes web crawlers do a lot of unneccesary work.

  2. It makes it harder to have permanent links.

  3. It screws up path names (this is the problem I am having with images loading for FreeTextBox 2.0.5 in FireFox)

  4. It makes it hard to stay logged in permanently or for a long time

Due to these problems it is my decision to remove cookieless sessions from the next version of VatoBlog and go back to regular cookies.

Umm. I think that’s about it for now. Yeah…
