Pipe Camp T-Shirt

I really want one of these shirts. It probably makes no sense to you unless you watch “Tom Goes To The Mayor“. And even if you have watched it, you probably didn’t like it. You have to have a pretty warped sense of humor to like this show. I think its pretty great, of course not as great as some of the other Adult Swim shows.

Damn Americans / MP3 Players

Friday, May 27th, 2005

So I had a strange dream last night.

I was going to the U.S. for some reason. Why??? I can’t imagine. Anyway, I was trying to get on my plane. The problem was that I had to have a blood/drug test. So they took my blood and began to test it when my blood started to fizz and bubble. Then, they said I had been taking “rock”. Not like “crack rock” but still a drug. I told them that it was complete B.S. so they said I could take another test. So, I took the test but I before I could take the test I had to go to a special room. I had a small white plastic bag with me that had my MP3 player and some other stuff in it. The American guards said they would take care of it until I finished the test. I didn’t really have a choice because they were pushing me around. So then, they tested me again and before anything could happen they said that they found “rock” in my blood again and that I would have to stay in custody. I told them that they were lying and I was going to sue them. For some reason I was allowed to walk out of the testing center and I started to yell at the supervisor. He started to appologize but gave no reason for the test results. I asked my bag back and everyone had no idea what I was talking about. Now, I no longer cared about the tests, I only cared that these bastards had stolen my MP3 player.

I don’t remember anything else. All I know is that those damn imaginary Americans owe me a new MP3 player.

In other MP3 news: I got a new remote control for my H340. It’s great, it’s like my old iMP350 remote, but better. I ordered it directly from the iRiver Japan eStore and they delivered it in 2 days. It was kind of expensive; about 4400 Yen. But, I am sure that it will be well worth it.

Mmmm… Delicious And Funny

(Image lost in backup)
I picked these up at the store tonight. I love honey roasted peanuts. These have a little too much coating for my taste but they are still great. I never noticed the bad English until I got home, not like that would have stopped me from buying them.

Again, The School Wastes My Time

Tuesday, May 24th, 2005

So today we had a field trip. The info was very vague. It listed the method of transportation, the place, and that we were going to eat curry.

First problem, we had to take the subway. After I paid $6000 for 1 semester of school. They make us walk 20 minutes to the subway station, make us wait in the station for 30 minutes, and then make us take 2 trains for another 30 minutes. Then when we get there, we have to walk through this crappy little town for 30 minutes just to get to this ugly camp site. Then we did nothing. Yup, no activities planned. So everyone just sat around and smoked. At least the smokers had something to do, unlike the rest of us. Then they decided it was time to make curry. So they made us all sit in dirt while some guy told us how to make curry. Except a few Korean “princesses” wouldn’t shut up so all I heard was them giggling about someone’s shoes. Meanwhile, one of them wore heels to go hiking. Anyway so we all split back into our groups and we had to wash the dirty old dishes, clean and cut the vegetables, make a fire, and get everything ready. Luckily, I wasn’t given any tasks to do. So I just hung out. Then, the teacher tells me that if I want to leave early that some people are leaving at 1:10 but I wouldn’t be able to eat curry. We didn’t arrive until 11:35 at least. I said, “okay” even though I wanted to say, “great.” Then right before I was about to leave they said I could eat quickly and I said that I was full although that was clearly a lie. Then I had to deal with the pressure of at least 5 different people telling me to eat when I was supposed to leave in 5 minutes. The curry looked like brown water with a couple potatoes and carrots in it. Oh, I forgot to say that they only had 3 potatoes and 2 carrots for 1 class of 16 people. Yeah, that should be enough nutrition. Then, I left without saying goodbye to anyone and proceed to walk for 30 minutes back to town.

What a great field trip. Then when I finally got back to the school at 2:30 I jumped on my bike and the cord of my MP3 remote got snagged on my seat and ripped so now I no longer have a remote.

I smell like smoke and sweat. I’ve only had a nuked egg mcmuffin from the convience store to eat all day. I’m not too happy.

My Black Eyed Peas - Monkey Business Review

Monday, May 23rd, 2005

Black Eyed Peas’s “Elephunk” will always stick with me. It was on of the best hiphop albums to ever have been made. I wil always remeber my month long vacation in Canada after two years in Korea because I drove all around Saskatchewan listening to “Elephunk.” Nothing else appealed to me in the same way. It was funky, smooth, meaningful, and current.

I have big hopes for “Monkey Business” since I played out “Elephunk.” Unfortunately, they couldn’t keep up the spirit. Yeah, it’s funky. But it is not meaningful. I’m not going to go into great detail about each song like magazine reviewers will. But “Elephunk” had great songs like: “Where is the love?”, “The APL song”, and “Third Eye”. These were the high points of “Elephunk” but the rest of the songs were not much lower. Unfortunately, “Monkey Business” doesn’t come close to the feeling that BEP had previously inspired.

BEP are lucky I am only comparing this to “Elephunk” because this could never compare to any of their “pre-Fergie” efforts. BEP was a great group without Fergie and they were for “Elephunk” also because they only used her where needed. But now she seems to contributing too much. This is not hip-hop anymore. This is pop!

BEP - Monkey Business 3 dead mics out of 5

There is my review. Why? Because this is still better than a lot of shitty music in the scene at the moment. For example, “Bebot”, another APL song is great despite the fact that is not in English. Also, “Don’t Lie” is the only good use of Fergie’s talent.

If you are a BEP fan, maybe it’s best to stay away from this. I know that they can do better than this. I have been a big fan of BEP since “Joint & Jams” and “Monkey Business” doesn’t live up the expecations. That doesn’t mean its not a good album, but it will never be a great album.

Frustration

Sunday, May 22nd, 2005

I studied the kanji for my current unit to keep up and then on the test 90 percent of the is old material. It really pisses me off because I do great on the lesson tests.
So I left at lunch break because my teacher was really annoying me by wasting time, over-complicating the lesson, and confusing everyone. I was learning on my own and making myself angry by wasting my time there.

What’s Really Important???

Wednesday, May 18th, 2005

I don’t know what’s really important any more. I want to do something that helps people. I’m sick of seeing bad things all the time. I have been fortunate enough to experience lots of things already and had a decent education so I want to use that to benefit other people. I have been seriously thinking of volunteering in another country. I have been really considering The Phillipines. I don’t know if I can really help people, but I want to try at least. I don’t care about much else any more and I’m sick of thinking of just the things I want. Why should I spend money on stuff that I don’t need when I can help people with that. I would donate but I don’t trust most donation agencies so using my skills first hand and experiencing things first hand is a better answer for me. I hope that I can do it…

Stress

Sunday, May 15th, 2005

I’m really tired today. I guess I slept to much yesterday. I found out on Saturday that I have high blood pressure. I have too much stress in my life and I don’t know how to change it without a huge change in my life.

My Biggest Regret

Wednesday, May 11th, 2005

I used to tell people that I regret nothing. That’s almost true but not entirely.

I do regret that I never brought my Monterrey Rayados jersey from 1998 to Japan with me.

Yeah, now that’s the type of regret that a person will always have to deal with.

Welcome To The Maritimes

Wednesday, May 11th, 2005

So nothing lately has made me feel at home nor inspired me.

Recently, I got into Classified’s music. One of the best Canadian, MC’s ever.

He comes from Halifax, NS. So here is my favorite song at the moment, “The Maritimes”:

Yo, Lets Take it back to the maritimes man,
Can’t take us all too serious, do that thing you guys were doin’

Chorus

Im from the east coast of canada, Home of the bag pipe
Known for the fiddle players, beer and our keg price
Known for alexander keiths and the donair
Home of the mooseheads but i dont really go there
We pay a buck for a litre of gas AND
Smokes cost ten dollars a pack DAMN
we always mix our tabacco with weed
it’s just the way we always done it, shit its natural to me
so let me tackle beat then arrive on the scene,
and let you people kow what you never travel to see
we got battle MC’s we got story tellers
and we got awful mc’s, corny motherfuckers
we got everything you wanna hear, consious to backpack
comercial to gangsta, R&B to abstact, grundge to rock,
classical to country, so many artists workin’ but no one makin money
welcome to the east coast home of the innocent
still pigeon hold is a form or a fisherman
no major league teams, baseball or hockey
no urban radio, just country and pop beats
im trying to shake these stereo types
so give me space please let me arrow my life,
i dont even eat fish, shit i never tried lobster
can’t play the fiddle, and never was a logger
(wanna swim in clean lakes) yeah and enjoy cool breezes
but halifax harbour is like swimming in diseases
we only known for anne of green gables
coal mines, the bluenose and p.e.i. potatoes,
the maritimes is better than that
we livin’ in another time so dead or without
we got universal soul AND buck 65 AND
the whole ctg AND of course classified
we got backburner, goodnight, alpha flight, lockdown, whiteboy,
first words, trobiz and L-Town
and a million other artists trying to get their flow heard,
and to let ya know we still workin on these out skirts
we tryin to blow like halifax explosion
or maybe anne murray i know she’s nova scotian
or hurricane juan blowin from the ocean
either way it goes im still reppin for my coast man

Chorus
