My Favourite Albums Of 2007
Friday, January 25th, 2008As today is the last day of the year I decided to wrap things up with my favourite albums of 2007. I guess I will stick the traditional rules of albums released during 2007 since there weren’t any memorable older albums that left a big impression on me. Here they are in random order without any rank.
Lupe Fiasco – The Cool
I’m a big Lupe fan and having this come out near my birthday was like a present. The Cool feels much different to me than most of Lupe’s previous work. It sounds ahead of its time and brings some life back to hip hop while taking it in a new direction.
Pharoahe Monch – Desire
The album plays like a novel with each track being a new chapter and finishing off with an amazing piece of story telling in Trilogy which has 3 acts itself. The remake of Public Enemy’s Welcome To The Terrordome could not have been done better and may even outshine the original.
Common – Finding Forever
A Common album largely produced by Kanye West will always be a great thing and Finding Forever is no exception. I wish I could say more things about this album but I listened to it daily after its release for several weeks.
Kanye West – Graduation
I eagerly anticipated this album more than any other this year and I was not disappointed. It was different from what I had initially expected but you should expect that from Mr. West. Kanye also played the mix tape game very well this year with great mix tapes before and after the release of Graduation.
I wanted to write a lot more but I got distracted and I will have to return to this post in the future.
